The Bad Dog Agility Approach to SUCCESS at Your Next Trial

Join the 2023 Invitational Prep Course

Every year, more and more competitors are taking our prep courses, getting personalized feedback on their practices, and making their way into the Finals of national level events like the American Kennel Club (AKC) Agility Invitational.

In this prep course, we share with you our exact approach to trial preparation in an easy-to-understand way that won't leave you feeling overwhelmed or confused.

Keep in mind that not everyone who takes this course actually attends the AKC Invitational. Studying course maps, working through sequences, and mastering your mental visualization routine will improve your performance for your next big event, or your next weekend trial.

This year's prep course is EXTRA SPECIAL since we will be following along with Jennifer Crank as she prepares sheltie Bee for her second appearance at the Invitational.  At three years old, Bee has already competed at the European Open, the WAO, and is one of the only 16" dogs to win the overall Westminster Masters Agility Championship.

it gives me a simple road map for my preparation . . .

I LOVE the prep course. It takes specific elements from previous Invitationals and creates exercises to work on. Because the exercises are spaced out in the weeks before the Invitational, it gives me a simple road map for my preparation. When I arrive at the event, I am confident that I have done a good job preparing and all that is left is execution. Thanks!!

In this course, Esteban will prepare you mentally for your best performance and analyze various exercises and explain key execution points.

Course Format

This course will help you and your dog excel by evaluating the trends of this year's AKC Agility Invitational judges and creating small space sequences to prepare you for what you might encounter in the ring. Every two weeks, you will be provided with a set of practice sequences designed to prepare you for the challenges you are likely to face from the following judges:

  • Terri Campbell
  • Dale Mahoney
  • Jan Skurzynski
  • Candy Netles

This course will include course map analyses for all rounds from the 2022 event as well as six sets of practice sequences with nested challenge sequences.

Course Map Analysis

Esteban will walk you through the course maps in the Coach’s Eye for all 5 rounds from last year’s event. Understanding how judges design courses will help you quickly identify traps so that nothing will surprise you.

Small Space Exercises (6 sets)

Through video demonstrations and course analyses, we will advise you to handle the sequence in a variety of ways so you can decide which works best for you and your dog.

Nested Challenge Sequences

Expand your skills with an 8-10 obstacle challenge sequence using the same layout. The challenge sequences have been designed to help you prepare for more difficult challenges you might see at the event.

BONUS: Mental Preparation

Your mental preparation plays as much a part in your success as your handling and execution.  Esteban will share the tips that have brought him success at the highest levels.

Personal Video Review (Working Spot)

Register for a working spot and get personal feedback from Sarah and Esteban Fernandezlopez and Jennifer Crank. Learn from their experience, and bring an outsider’s eye into your training so that they can help you identify areas for improvement. For those attending the event, you can also submit your videos from the event for a video analysis critique.

BONUS: Technology for Agility (Working Spot)

No tech? No problem! Helping you with the technology required to learn online is included with your working spot. We know that there are technology skills that you need to succeed in an online learning environment. The Technology for Agility course will teach you how to tape, edit, and share your videos.  Note: This course focuses on editing and sharing from iPhone/iPad devices.

almost like having a private coach to prepare for the Invitational . . .

I love the small space exercises based on trends from this year ‘s judges. Plus trying the different handling options pushes me out of my comfort zone and encourages me to try new things. The feedback is also really helpful. The AGI Prep course is almost like having a private coach to prepare for the invitational. It’s a great value for the money. I love your prep courses!

We exceeded those goals by miles!

I wanted to let you know that I think this course really helped me prepare and be successful at the AKC Agility Invitational. This was my first time being invited to the invitational. The exercises, videos, and course analysis really helped us practice and helped me be a lot better at analyzing courses and planning what I’d do on course. I really liked that the exercises were easy to set up.

My goals in going to the invitational were basically to have fun, keep him happy, and to do the very best that I could. We exceeded those goals by miles! Astro and I ran clean in all four rounds and made finals! Thank you so much!

the small space exercises are great practice

Definitely worth the money and time even if you are not planning on competing at Invitationals. Invitational judges are generally pretty popular and you will likely see them at a trial near you; insight into their take on course design is always valuable. Plus the small space exercises are great practice on sequence patterns used by all judges.

this is a great course to practice handling . . .

I like the fact that the sequences are small and easily set up. I really liked the fact that different options for handling were included, and I always love the analysis. Also, I really liked some of the previous year’s analysis of courses and the trends. Whether you go to the Invitational or not, this is a great course to practice handling.
