  • Jenn says:

The first attempt on option 1 almost resulted in a collision. I was late on the second front cross and Dubs almost ran into the back of my legs. Second attempt was better.

Option 2 seemed to run well.

Challenge 1. Not sure why I did the blind instead of the front between 3 and 4.

I’m trying to be earlier and more definitive about my decel cues in order to get tighter turns.

Hopefully I’ll get the other challenge options later in the week.

Here are our attempts. Had trouble getting the Threadle slice when I wanted Threadle wrap which surprised me.

    • Jennifer Crank says:

I am not surprised in the sense that differentiating these two types off threads is pretty difficult. That is why I picked this for the SSPC this month. This is also why you see handlers with two separate verbal cues and/or different hand cues. If you are using the same verbal you are going to have to be a bit more precise on your motion. I also want to keep an eye on your verbal cues for wrap, loop and jump. https://youtu.be/fQJ0a_Lc0Ig

Hi Jennifer! I only managed to do option one for the sequence and the same for the challenge. I will go back and do the rest at some other point – we have a severe lag of daylight hours now it’s winter 🙁
Anyway, Lyric is up first, then Robbie. I did what you suggested last month and did Robbie’s first round in silence – it worked very well!
I have been working on their bend jumping and I think (??) we have improved a bit, maybe. However, I did think they were both quite wide at number 2 which did help the turn on 3…

Here’s our crack at it. Thought the challenge was FUN!

  • Maureen says:

    Hello Jennifer
I don’t have a tunnel yet so I used 2 jumps in its place. It’s been hard replacing every thing in my life but we are getting back to a semblance of normal. Getting back to running with Surf feels good but I can tell our timing is off.
When I set this up I was expecting that off course jump and I got it. Can you tell me what I can do better there. I also see I did funky stuff with my arms on one of the send and turn over jump 4 at .45 sec in the video. I’ve seen other people throw up that arm when they want the dog to turn away from them but my opposite arm means turn toward me. I’m thinking I should’ve just sent a forward send on the arms she was on and once committed turn and go?

    • Jennifer Crank says:

Wow! This went great for you! And kudos for having two threadle verbals!

      Feedback: https://youtu.be/x3OYhvWumAc

      • Hdickin580 says:

Thank you for the feedback. I was really surprised how well sloth did as the turns at 2, 3, and wrap 4 were all with me on his bad side, and this video was his first and only attempts at the drills. I’m trying to see what I might have done differently that made this work, and I think possibly I was beginning the cues from a position more in front of him, rather than from his side? Need to play around with this concept more. I had actually considered building the mirror of this, instead of per the map, so that more would be on his good side. He was a very good boy 🙂
