A Note About BDA VIP |
|
Lovely run for Sting. Is it hard to adjust your timing as you switch from 12” to a 20” dog? You make it look easy, but even with 2 dogs of similar height the different timing can be tricky. Do you think about it, or is it natural as you run each dog?
For me, it’s not as much about the jump height (although, I that probably comes in play a bit) but rather how they run. Speed, drive, commitment. For example, Jack and Rio run similar. And Hi5 and Bee are similar. More drive usually means more commitment and I don’t have to go into jumps as much. Less drive often means higher turns so I have to plan their path differently. So yes, I have to think about it a fair amount but it usually happens right before the run and not necessarily in the walk though. More of a which “okay, which dog is this? Where do I need to be?” What I do (FC, vs BC vs RC) is often the same but the execution changes. I appreciate you saying I make it look easy, but I’ve had MANY years of practice 😉
Interesting, thank you. I tend to think about the number of strides between jumps but it makes sense that commitment point and speed would be more important factors influencing timing and execution.
