Sarah’s Workflow – Bad Dog Agility Academy

Sarah’s Workflow

After six years of teaching agility online and providing video feedback, I have developed my own preferred set of tools and technologies that have the right mix of capability, ease of use, and speed. In this course I will cover several alternatives, however, my preferred workflow is:

  • video tape on iPhone
  • airdrop to iPad (optional, for larger screen)
  • edit with iMovie on iPhone/iPad
  • analyze with Coach’s Eye
  • share with YouTube

Unless you have a compelling need, I would recommend you focus on these technologies.

  • Pam Moore says:

Sarah, I am fairly new to the Apple environment. I just got a Macbook so now my conversion is nearly complete! My question is: I have been using OneDrive to store all my data. Does this work well with Apple products or should I use iCloud? I want as smooth an operation as possible as far as sharing between devices, editing, uploading to various locations, etc. I look forward to your advice.

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

I have not actually used OneDrive (I jumped on Google Drive long before OneDrive was introduced). But I would highly recommend iCloud and purchasing the extended storage.

I resisted iCloud for a long time as an unnecessary expense, however the seamless experience and the time I have saved makes it so worth the yearly fee.

Behind the scenes, photos and videos are automagically uploaded to icloud and no longer take up space on my phone. When I go to view those photos/videos, there is a slight delay as it downloads the items back to my phone, but in both cases, I don’t have to “do” anything.

  • Noel Walter says:

Does “you have now completed this unit
mean that I cannot go back to any of the modules

  • Connie dee says:

Sounds good – don’t have a smart phone yet BUT I have an android tablet so will start there.

  • vdemenge@hotmail.com says:

I only have android phones and tablets.

  • francinefiori@sbcglobal.net says:

    Looking forward to learning!

  • TsYorkieLand says:

Not a question but advice for those with Androids. I use my Samsung Galaxy Tablet to for most of my recordings. If I record with my phone, I use DropBox to get it to my tablet for editing. The app I use to edit is Movie Maker. From there, I can go to Coach’s Eye and YouTube.

  • Sandy Boyko says:

I have android, so none of what you describe as your workflow makes sense for Android….have you worked through this with others????

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Unfortunately no, I have no experience with android.

I would try using a similar flow and just switching out the editing portion. I expect that your Android camera is good enough for videoing your agility. Especially for the purposes of self review or an online class.

For editing, you will need to find an easy to use app that you like. I found this article which will give you some apps to try.

There is a Coach’s Eye android app and a YouTube app for android as well.

  • Janice Hsia says:

I also have an Android. The most trouble I have is with editing and analyzing with Coach’s Eye

  • MaryTurcintrio says:

Would an Apple 8 Plus phone be suitable. Have not done any video work yet but am planning on trying.

  • SNovotny says:

Sarah, I’m so excited and so so grateful that you have put this course together!!!!!! This alone is reason for a VIP membership. I cannot what to get started!

  • kaksphx@yahoo.com says:

I have android….will that work. Also technology challenged…

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

I have not worked with an android, but I am going to add an android model after borrowing one from a friend.

Is there a particular part of the workflow you find especially difficult? For example, are you comfortable sharing video, but not editing it?

Or do you need guidance on all aspects?
