Analyzing Video

Hi Sarah – So I’ve gone through more of your videos, which I should have done to start with, and thought I had it. I recorded my analysis, but when it went to save I got a message: “Foul! The operation could not be completed because the video is corrupt or missing.” . The video is grayed out, so I can’t do anything with it now. I did google this error, but didn’t find anything, so I thought I would ask you just in case you’ve encountered this before. My best guess is that the lack of memory on my iphone might be causing issues. I need a new iphone.

All I’m trying to do is analyze Cimer’s take-off point when jumping 2 jumps, 18 ft apart, with different handling options. If I have to, I’ll do an analysis without recording make notes of which color annotation is associated with which handling choice, and take a screenshot.

I’m glad you messaged! I get this all the time and the vast vast majority of times it’s recoverable. I would start by clearing up space on your phone. You can delete old items in Coach’s Eye (that a space culprit on my devices) or old imovie projects (another space eater). Then try again.

If that still doesn’t work, try closing the app, restarting the device and trying again.

Thanks, I’ll work on deleting videos, etc.. Trying to wait to buy a new iphone until September when the new models may be out. Thanks for confirming that space is the problem with that kind of error.

  • Iris Kabert says:

Hello! I was wondering if/when we draw arrows or other markings how we save that to review and go back to? (Not sure if we’re supposed to hit the record button and then draw arrows/spotlights?). Thank you in advance for your help!

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Yes. Anything you do without hitting record is just for your “in the moment” analysis. If you want to re-watch your analysis or share it with someone else, you need to hit record. This essentially records everything that happens on the screen (the video as you move through it, plus any drawings) plus any voice over.

      • Iris Kabert says:

Oh, thank you! (I kind of thought that when I got to the part about the Analysis and how it’s black and white before it’s analyzed or something like that — I need to re-watch it). BTW: I put in a suggestion re: perhaps doing a pdf with step by step visuals so one could have a hard copy of your instructions (worth paying extra for, too!)

        • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

It’s a great suggestion. So does this make more sense now? If you want it on part of the video, you just hit the clear button at the point where you want it to disappear.

  • agilitymalinois@gmail.com says:

I see how to draw lines, boxes, etc. on the video but how do I get it just to show up for part of the video and then go away. So I want to show a take off spot for 2 seconds for example, but then the dog has moved on and I want the drawn line to disappear? Thanks.

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Did I not highlight that? I’m going to need to add to the video!

There’s a clear button at the bottom above the wheel that clears all drawings from the screen, and an undo button that removes the most recently drawn line.

      • agilitymalinois@gmail.com says:

I think you may have said that but it seemed like it removed all of it not just stopped it from future parts of the video. Maybe I did it wrong, let me experiment more.

        • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Here’s a little explanation. I think you’ve probably expecting one behavior, but it’s designed to do something else.

          • Iris Kabert says:

I’m also curious as to how to draw an arrow and have it appear in just part of the video (meaning not to undo/clear it as we still want it for part of the video)? Thank you!

          • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

            Hi Iris!
Did you watch the video included in the August 26th comment on this thread?

          • Iris Kabert says:

I did — just didn’t understand how to have something on just part of the video (i.e. drawing a line for ex. just during one part of the run and not having it show up for another part of the run). Maybe this relates to my other question re: how to save videos with lines, arrows, etc. that I draw in?

          • Leigh-Anne says:

Hi Sarah, I tried to watch this video to get more insight into the clear function and the audio seems to disappear at 48seconds of recording (This is the point at which you start recording with CE).

          • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Ohhhh – yes, I expect I can’t actually record AND screen capture at the same time. I watched the video and I think the first part of the video basically covers the question.

I will re-record an official video to add as well.
