Hi Sarah, a lot of people (the breeder, my agility trainer, other agility handlers, my vet, and Fb puppy training groups) tell me to wait (at least) until after our 12 week shots to go to places like puppy class, agility trials, and walks at the park. I have an older reactive dog (he was a rescue) and I am hesitant to wait to socialize my new puppy as I want to make sure she’s properly socialized. I plan to clean paws after every outing, but I really want to get her out and about! What are your thoughts on this? She’s a 9 week old Australian shepherd and has had her first set of shots at 8 weeks as well as bordatella vaccine.

Personally I always take my puppies out right away. I just do not do dog parks or places I am unsure about until they have more vaccines in place. They go to trials and hardware stores and friend’s houses as soon as they can handle it. The socialization window closes so early I do not want them to miss out.

    Hi Sarah
I’m having trouble getting Toast to tug anywhere outside of our house. Any ideas what I might do to fix this?
