Here is Ghost’s cone work. He checked out a bit on me after a while. The session was about 5 minutes, so I think I will scale it back for now (he is 6 months old)

Do you only have them circle one direction at first? If so, when do you introduce the other direction? How do you cue them to go the other direction, and how do you cue them? I saw that Jennifer was using different works for wraps in different direction but I think my directional dyslexia will make that hard for me.

In the first session or two I accept any turn in any direction. It’s almost more about getting them to interact with the cone.

Then the placement of reward is going to force a particular direction.

I typically wait until I’ve got a pretty good behavior in one direction before I kindof start over and go through the progression on the other side.

I don’t use directionals on course. I depend on handling instead to make it clear what I want. But circling a cone is a great body awareness exercise that helps them learn how to bend.

This was a fantastic break down – I had been struggling to get really smooth circling movement from my pup. There were a couple of great hints here that helped us nail it.
