Here is Switch running the 3 options. I preferred option 1. I found option 3 trying to get that 2nd RC in kind of awkward. Maybe I did not have the jumps in right location.

Pico has a hard time turning on this floor, so do your best to ignore his unnecessarily wide turns. Dizzy adjusts on this floor pretty well, but I don’t have his normal speed. Hula will jump 16″, but we are still working our way up. She is having a hard time accelerating after rear crosses. I sent the boys around a cone to start, but Hula was more successful starting from a stay. Option 1 is my preferred handling and we added some extra tunnel handling at the end of the sequences. Thanks!
Nice work on the handling. Watch the verbals. There seemed to be some excessive ones thrown in there. I think with Hula some sending games would be good for her to work the drive out of the turns. Maybe even some flyball training 😉

Thank you! I do chatter a lot and I need to work on that. Pico can use the cheerleading, but I’ve been told that Dizzy gets annoyed with me. I only use left and right for rears and I have a different verbal for wraps towards me. Dizzy’s verbal is “wrap” and Pico’s is “peep.peep.peep.” (I didn’t intentionally train Pico’s that way, that’s just what I know works for him). Their names are mostly used as a “hurry up” or “pay attention something’s coming”.

Great work! You are a very smooth team. Watch on your backsides that you are showing the wing to minimize off courses and create a tighter line.

Here’s Jake’s attempt. https://youtu.be/4mgVRJACVwk
Option 1 (reverse spin) was my favorite but I do want you to work on being earlier on the blind. He should land with you already looking over the new shoulder. Try to time the blind to be done exactly while he is in the air jumping.

TY Jennifer! I see I was watching my dog instead of turning on that blind. 🤦🏻♀️ The rear cross is definitely my last choice but good to practice. We were talking in class tonight about things we do unintentionally & I was demonstrated how I throw my arms up so high on the backsides. I’ll keep working on it. 🙂
Here is Hart on exercises 1, 2 and 3 https://youtu.be/U-cMDk_Xq5w
PS As you can see he thinks my rear cross technique could use some improvement! We have a hard time with it.
Yes, your rear cross could be cleaned up a bit (I feel like you’re relying too much on your arms and not enough on motion) but it is the spin that’d I’d like to tweak a bit as I feel it is a great option for you.

Thank you so much for your help! I need to work on trusting Hart’s commitment to jump 3 – he can turn on a dime and sometimes if I’m early he will pull off.
Here’s Truman’s work on these exercises. This past weekend was our first full weekend at the AKC Open level and the courses we had showed how wise it is to practice in front of a tunnel but not do it. Our work on these sequences was great preparation for the challenges we actually faced and passed with flying colors.
The challenge sequence is included in this video. I was surprised and pleased how well Truman did the curls. Here again I guess it’s practice makes perfect. Thanks for presenting these options!
The above link is incomplete for some unknown reason. This one should be better. Sorry!
I’m so thrilled to hear you found these sequences relevant to what you are seeing at trials. Tunnel traps are so common in the sport, regardless of organization.

I also did a overlay of the slice vs curl which was really fun using the new OnForm app.
Overlay: https://youtu.be/NlGLUuuqK50
The overlay was really COOL…thanks so much for doing it! I think if I had cued the second curl a little sooner it might have been tighter and the comparison closer.
Here’s Ex 1 and 2 with both Juno 3.5yo and Jake 8.5yo….didn’t get to 3 but will. Thank you!

Thank you Jennifer for your comments! Here’s a redo of Ex 2 along with my first submission of Ex 3. I worked both of these exercises for a few days struggling with the rear cross. I watched your demos many times as well as others with your feedback. I’ve never felt truly comfortable with rear crosses, so this was great! I think you can tell in the videos I was really having to think about what I was doing with the arms/legs/timing. My 2 take aways were “being patient” by not feeling like I always had to be moving somewhere, and using the proper leg/hand. I think I got it! Looking forward to your comments.

Wow! Beautiful turns!

Yep, on the arm thing….still working on it and much more cognizant! Thank you, and good luck tomorrow at Cyno!
Here is my 4 year old girl Nina in Ex1, 2, & 3 https://youtu.be/EGWWZu1SNPU
Great work with Nina! I liked options 1 and 3 best as you go the tightest turns at #3. You will see the difference in striding compared to option 2.

Thank you for the great suggestions Jen, and for being so personable. I feel like I know you already 🙂 Here is another try at #2. I think it went a little better with your suggestions for the FC but in the RC she was looking at me instead of the jump. She clearly didn’t know what I was asking. Looking forward to your analyses.
Thanks again! https://youtu.be/dZY5BaFWi1Q
Keep in mind that a forward send is the prerequisite for a rear cross. So focus on getting her to drive ahead of you to the jump before focusing on the later pressure towards her line.

I have never heard it described that way! It makes perfect sense and it really helps to think of it that way. Thank you!
