Hula did not do the challenge this time. We tried to do some work at 16″ and her baby brain was fried. For the boys, I think I got a tighter line and more speed into the tunnel when I slipped a blind after the back side in option 3. We learned from the side by side from Set 1 that Dizzy’s tunnels are significantly slower when I rear the entry, so I am practicing alternative handling strategies to avoid that. Dizzy was getting tired, so I went back to the cone start to get him running.

Here’s Juno and Jake. I felt much more comfortable with this challenge. I would definitely choose slices on this one, but it was good to try the wraps. It’s not on video but I did try a blind cross between 6-7 to see if I could straighten out the line but it didn’t seem to make a difference but that could have been timing as it was hard to get there!

Here are my girls work on the sequence and challenge. These have been great practice to ease up into playing AKC again after playing mostly USDAA!

Looking forward to your feedback, thanks!

Lots of great stuff here! Some of the adjustments I would like to see you make with Claire you did when you ran Carat. Not sure who you ran first and if you learned from one. Or if you just trust Carat more.

Thank you!! I really appreciate the feedback, I’m here to pick apart my handling to improve so I’ll take all the advice you’ve got!

I rotate which dog runs first each training session and this time it was Claire so I think that may have been part of it but I don’t trust Claire as much as Carat. She is a year younger and is more likely to take off course obstacles if my timing is off – that said she has come a very long way and I need to start trusting her more!

I will definitely have to watch my lateral motion during rear crosses, I didn’t realize I was doing that but can see how that would be confusing for the dog.

I figured the slice would be the best option for the challenge but really like pushing myself to work on the curl to improve those skills so we have them just in case. We have more fun running the slices for sure but knowing I can use the skills involved in the curl is nice too!

Here is my work on wraps with Nina. Not our strongest thing as you can see some hesitations and occ slices with the wrap. Thought I would get your input and work on them before attempting the sequence. Thank you!

I think you could work on both her commitment to the wrap (at least when turning right) and her jumping effort. She doesn’t want to bend as much as I’d like to see. She much prefers to jump on a slice (it is easier) but we want that bending skill for better turns.
