After watching AKCtv this morning we went out and played with these sequences…I added the weaves as I often struggle with getting too far ahead of them while they’re weaving when the sequence doesn’t require it.

With Carat I feel like I went too far ahead with the FC after the weaves causing her to slow down…I was also very late on the FC after 3 but she saved it for me. On option 3 I was late telling her to take 4 before the tunnel but again she looped back and took it as soon as it registered with her what I was asking. On option 1 of the challenge I added her name on the second backside to make sure she read the curl vs slice which caused her to stop and check with me…I often have to do this for Claire but Carat is quite a bit softer so I don’t normally need it (and didn’t need it here from the look she gave me lol). I was also late on the second tunnel threadle so I looped around and repeated it to work on my timing.

With Claire I skipped the last set of weaves as it was getting warm and they’re still adjusting to that.

    Thanks for all your help!!

When I first did option 2 I forgot you wanted dog to slice 3 and go into tunnel so I first did it with the wrap to tunnel. Upon reviewing video I saw my error so I did a redo and let her slice 3. I suspect that is the faster line. https://youtu.be/xuZ1YJbOgO4

There is no doubt the slice to the outside on jump 3 was faster so I’m glad you recognized the error and had a chance to redo it. I am also very pleased with how quickly you can switch your eye contact from one shoulder to another on your blind crosses. That is hard for so many people and you do a great job.

Can’t seem to open up the link of your comments yet – FYI – those blind crosses are out of my comfort zone so I do appreciate the comment! Yes – I knew slice would be waaayy faster, (also easier for dog and human I feel)

We’ve been struggling with a bug in the video program OnForm. Luckily they just released a fix, so this should be the LAST TIME we have these delays!

Jenn is driving all day today to AKC Nationals, so it’s unlikely she can get connected before this evening.

Thank you so much for your patience!

Thanks for the info – FYI the link still does not download 1 day later.

I was driving when I did feedbacks yesterday and apparently they didn’t upload using cellular data instead of Wifi.  They are all uploaded now and links should work.

Got it! Thanks a bunch! Just to clarify, to shape the wrap at #3 be on the landing side of #3 facing dog with hand/arm grapping her head to encourage more of an arc?

          • Jennifer Crank says:

Not the landing side, the takeoff side. You’d almost want to be where the number 3 label is on the map. Your goal would be to get her to jump #3 where the #10 label is and not the #6 label.

First, thanks you so much for the incredible details and feedback. It means so much when I don’t have an instructor. I have learned so much! Vibe my 2yo needs a lot of foundation work on some of the challenge skills so if it looks like I was hesitating on the FFC and the threadle I was. Thanks again.

Here’s Mimi and I. Tried each option twice. The blind cross felt awkward, liked the front cross better. Mimi wraps better on right than the left (seen in small spaces exercise). https://youtu.be/UUEedAl4CSQ

Flash’s challenge exercise. I added a comparison between the two options. I felt the threadle was quicker, but I lost some time on a wider turn on the jump after the tunnel.
