Here is Truman’s work on these exercises. I decided to look at the map and decide how I would have chosen to handle before looking at your suggestions. I’ve labelled these efforts of mine as handler’s option. On the small space exercises, I added jump #1 and weave poles #2 as well as the jump after #7 to put the training sequence in the context of the course. I am still having trouble running but because of the placement of the weave poles I was able to get well ahead and managed all the options, I felt at least, pretty well. My handler’s option was pretty much your option #2 except I served #6. On the whole, I think your RC option was better as I had to be careful to stay out of Tru’s way but I wanted to try it because I thought it might tighten the turn from 6-7 better than a RC, especially if there were anything more enticing on the landing side of 6. In the challenge sequence I much preferred option 1 to 2, except I did leave out all the blinds because I just could not manage them. My handler’s option reduced the amount I needed to move to a minimum but I think it worked OK. I understand that moving more would get more out of Tru and would likely be clearer to him but at this point I just can’t manage it. Thanks for your comments in advance. And congratulations on all your successes overseas. Looking forward to meeting you in person in Orlando.

Nope not going to the Invitationals but love the practice and feedback!
The day I ran the short course sequences was the first day I had been up after injuring my back and we did OK. I ran the Challenge course a day later and you will see I had a hard time getting around. We all struggled on these but I felt like it was my fault! Poor boys. Getting old is the PITS!

Exercises and Challenge Options for Cherry. Our threadle handling needs some work for sure.

Good work!! I did not think your threadle handling was that bad. You had to have a strong rotation towards her, but you were able to stay moving and made the font cross after #3. THAT says a lot about your trust to have her come in. I would prioritize working rear crosses over threadles if you are headed to invitational and/or do mainly AKC.

Thanks Jenn. You’ve given me a lot to think about with rear crosses. We will keep working on trying to improve them. I definitely need to get more consistent with my verbal. We are headed to Invitational this year as Cherry is the second of two AKK to ever qualify. We are trying to prepare as much as possible.

The third option with blinds didn’t record, but I did run the rears twice so I included both of those. Just watching my own training videos is helping me. I never really have done this before.

I know you didn’t get video of the BC option, but you are still more than welcome to submit that video separately if you’d like feedback on it. Or combine it with the challenge sequences.

I love that you are already enjoying and learning from watching your videos before you even submit them. I find this to be very common and why I push people to film their training regardless if they are going to submit it anywhere.

Thanks! I didn’t expect to hear from you this week.

I know I need to stop saying here, thanks for reenforcing that. I guess I don’t trust him enough, but I realize I should because he’s much better than I am. If I can get some more ring rental time I’ll rerun the blind. I’ll work on my footwork for fronts. He slows down when I stop or slow so maybe that’s something I should work on as well.

Training is not the place you need to be perfect so it’s a good time to try and trust the dog and see what you have. I also help a bit more in a trial when I know my dog is a bit more excited and there is more on the line. Do these training drills are a great chance to TRUST (not so much “here”) and so how good he really is!

Here’s Jakes attempt. We ran it after dark so the lighting isn’t great. https://youtu.be/8ReGt7gibYY?si=7sR2DtX45i7hB6Pl
