I appreciate these scouting reports. The only judge I have shown under is Zach Davis and I’m 100% sure I’m not making qualifiers or finals and that’s ok. 🙂. These judges either haven’t been in the Oklahoma area or I missed the trial they were at!

Interesting that we did have a dogwalk back to the underneath tunnel this weekend. A similar conversation was had about not seeing it much anymore.

What are you recommending to do for the Warm Up STD? Touch all contacts, work the loop and wrap on the surface to see which way the dog responds best, colors of the weave poles etc?

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Absolutely. I think contacts. Start line testing. If stopped contacts, do NOT quick release.

      • Maureen says:

The Warm up std does not count toward anything and should be used as training in the ring?

        • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Correct. I couldn’t find anything in the premium or the briefing that explicitly said this, but in the past, you could even bring a toy in for the warm-up run and you didn’t have to even try to run the course. You could go straight to the Contacts or do the dog walk three times. And the warm-up run isn’t judged. There might be a judge there just to ensure that you don’t do anything illegal or dangerous for the dog.

You can also treat the ISC or the Premier run on Friday as a second warm-up, because it doesn’t have any effect on the national championship. it’s just a single exhibition run for money. However it’s not like the warm-up run in that it is judged as a regular run, you can be whistled off, etc.

Interesting courses! I hope to be able to show to Inga Hooper sometime in the future.

These analyses have been a great addition to the Nationals prep course. Thanks, Sarah!
