It’s a little embarrassing to post this train wreck but here is our 1st & 2 nd attempt at exercise #1. I had a redo from jump 2. Also only have 1 tunnel. “ Check check” is my soft turn cue.

This is the first agility sequence Truman and I have done together since I hurt my knee at the Invitationals in December. I still don’t know whether I will ever be able to run properly again so I’ve decided, if I am going to continue to do agility with Tru, I will have to adjust my expectations and lean on him to do even more distance work. This sequence was a lovely one to get us back in working mode. My A-frame was already (by a fortunate accident) perfectly positioned to build this sequence around so I was able to play with the lead-in to the small space. I did review your suggested 3 handling options but given my new reality of not really being able to run, I chose to try what I thought would be our best choice of options. Sending Tru to the weave poles after the A-frame allowed me to retreat to the landing side of jump #1, giving me a tighter turn to the first tunnel. This also left me close to where I needed to be to get the turn over the jump to the second tunnel and left me again close to where I needed to be to do the rear to get the third tunnel. The challenges were also well suited to a distance style. I thought it all went pretty well and Truman seemed thrilled to be back to work.

Good luck in Tulsa. We’ll be rooting for you!

I finally got a chance to do the Challenge. Not having a start line this was tough. First time going to the right side I got the off course tunnel.
First time going to the left side I got I believe the off course jump. I think I edited that one out. https://youtu.be/e7cLoNYuS4g

I am paused, unfortunately, after filming the 1st version of small space #1. I did that in a one day break between snowstorms when enough snow had melted to be able to set a course. Since then it’s been snow, snow, snow! 🙁 Sigh.

Reposting my comment from 1/31/25. I think it was maybe missed. Thanks.

The rear cross on the tunnel would be my last choice on this option so I guess I’d have to trust my weaves a bit – you’ll see why haha. This was good practice though and showed gaps in our training. Francois is my most seasoned dog and Marcel my least.

I am also 25 weeks pregnant in this video and unsure if I’ll be able to actually run them in Tulsa at 31 weeks. I have a friend who will run them if I can’t – from your experience does AKC care about handler changes? I think you’ve run other people’s dogs at NAC and premier cup.

    Thanks!

Good work with both dogs! A lot of the feedback is the same for both dogs. At least you are consistent! 😉

Thanks for all the great feedback! I will definitely work on those verbals. I realized I haven’t been using left or right at all on convergence as in jump 4 so thanks for the clarification. Also, I will definitely make motion the priority rather than sending. Thanks for mentioning Blitzen’s gait too. She has had X-rays and checks by multiple veterinarians who have all cleared her for agility.
I really appreciate all your great feedback!

Hi! Here is my first stab at the exercises in Set 1, together with the challenge exercises. I did include two goes at the end of the video, which is most likely how I would actually handle the course with this particular dog. TIA for your review. https://youtu.be/639PuUlAfoM

I should explain, my field is outdoors, so I scheduled time at an indoor arena. (Crazy weather in Kansas)
With set up and tear down, I only had time for one option plus the challenge.
