    Hi Sarah,
Starting to combine tunnel with wing circles. I am trying to build value for the toy w food inside so I can get stop reinforcing from my body. I noticed in another video she was starting to jump toward my hand during the obstacle to get a treat.

    • Sarah Baker says:

Definitely do more of that! And you can throw the toy earlier, as soon as there is commitment. I would have thrown at time stamps: 5, 15, and 22 seconds.

  • Harriet Holland says:

Is there a difference between wraps and send?

    • Sarah Baker says:

Yes. A wrap is a specific jumping effort, add a stride or two and make a tight wrap around the wing. A send is when you tell your dog to go do an obstacle without you. You can send to a wrap, send down a long line, send to a tunnel/weaves/contact, etc.

I love the flow and speed. You’re tossing a ball for rewarding; the videos don’t show how you get the ball back. Does Skeptic bring it back to your hand? Drop it at your feet? My puppy loves to chase the ball but drops it once he gets it (wherever it lands, not at my feet) which interrupts the flow and momentum.

    • Sarah Baker says:

Thanks! At this point Skeptic was bringing the ball back. if I tossed a tug, I think I would have needed a 2nd tug to get him back. We worked on retrieving the ball and 2 toy games in separate sessions.

Thank you Sarah! Really enjoyed your circling lessons. Toast is loving the circle game!

  • cynthia says:

Thank you Sarah, this is so valuable to me!

  • cynthia says:

Do you ever add a verbal cue to the wrap? Like a “wrap to the right” or “wrap to the left” verbal?

    • cynthia says:

Sorry, I did see you have “wrap” cue which is either direction. Why did you choose that instead of two directional cues?

      • Sarah Baker says:

Wrap is just the term I use for tight turns. The actual verbal cues I teach my dogs I listed in the response above. Oh and “check” is their generic collection/turn cue.

    • Sarah Baker says:

I add cues once the behavior is strong and predictable. My cues depend on my dog’s approach to the circle object and the directions I want them to go. I will use their wrap cues (right/left or rightrightright/leftleftleft), their backside wrap cue (Skep: back, Hops: around), or their threadle cue (in).

  • Heather says:

How many times a day would you train? I assume with 5 to 10 minute intervals.

  • Patricia Price says:

What is the value of multiple wraps of the jump wings for handling?

    • Sarah Baker says:

It works on bending, commitment and paying attention to cues. And I have actually had a course where my dog was supposed to take the same jump the same way two times in a row and we did it with multiwraps!
