    Sarah, can you explain the importance of how backing up relates to agility performance? I know that rear end awareness is important from a safety perspective, but I am not sure how to relates to performance improvements. Your insight would be appreciated!!

      I find it to be very helpful when teaching the 2 on 2 off behavior. It think they learn the 2O/2O behavior faster when already taught backing to a target. Also, when they overshoot they can back up to fix it in the beginning. It is also part of conditioning and rehab in addition to rear end awareness. My dogs need rear end awareness not only for contacts but for weaves and jumps as well.
