About the early blind, would you have slowed down a wee bit to let surprise LAND while you keep your head turned to the left with left arm cueing the jump then as you see surprise land you start the blind at the plane of that jumpturning your head to the right with right hand back towards surprise. OR do wait a nanosecond as surprise lands and actually is looking at that jump then start the blind at the plane of the jump. This was so helpful and so nuanced.

    • Jennifer Crank says:

Slowing down was definitely not the answer. For the BC you need to be pretty far ahead. What I needed to do was delay the turning of my head and arm change; to decreases my speed. I needed to see mental commitment on my LEFT side before I start the blind and I never saw that. I also think a bit more training for commitment would help too. This isn’t the first time she’s done something like this to me.

After watching this, I almost expected you to turn into the jump like you did in Premier-blind to a forced front on the backside. I know that the positions of the jumps were different, but Surprise was just as responsive which worked in Premier but not here. Thanks for sharing this. There is a sweet spot.

    • Jennifer Crank says:

They are slightly different skills. Premier was a backside into a BC followed by a FC on the flat. This is an extension blind. I just didn’t watch her closely enough…nervous I guess. But, similar to premier, I was far enough ahead to just do the FC. Hindsight is 20/20. Who knew I’d be that far ahead. I know wish I had done that. Sigh.
