Is is a good idea to tug while the dog is on a 2-on-2-off position on contacts?
For high drive dogs that are physically able to keep themselves on the contact while tugging, this exercise can help reinforce the contact behavior. There was a time when this was fashionable, but for the most part, I feel that it is not necessary for learning or proofing the behavior. You can simply mark the 2 on 2 off behavior and release the dog to tug with you.
