I am new to both the VIP and CF program as I am a novice handler. I am excited to be learning more about Canine fitness. Leslie, you are right that back in the day, we were not knowledgeable about how important strength training was so important to sport success unless you were an athlete. Now I just need to learn where to find all the resources available to me and get learning! I will be posting jump analysis first because I need confirmation on my dogs jump style and how to improve that. Thank you!
Hi Sandra!
I’m excited to have you in the program. I’m posting the link to the CF orientation. Start here to learn more about how to go through the program: https://baddogagilityacademy.com/course/vipcf-2024-orientation/module-1/welcome-11/
Lastly I have Azmin who is 3 (and the daughter of my other 2 dogs, Ember and Blaze). She actually had surgery for Elbow Dysplasia at 9 months old and I wasn’t sure if we would ever get to play agility. But the specialist said she can, but she isn’t going to be a marathon runner. So far she seems to be doing well, has won out in to the middle grades now in both agility and jumpers. Love to hear things we should be working on to keep her strength up. Fitness stuff is all pretty new to me and not something I have been very good at doing (and not very experienced or confident at).

Thanks again 🙏
Sorry I put my comments/video links under the wrong section 🙊
Azmin skews a bit to the take off side as well. The good news is you can do the same exercises for all 3 dogs to help them improve! https://link.getonform.com/view?id=Wa1PP7UT55IbyhIevcDG
Next I have Blaze who is my 4 year old (entire) male. He has finally seemed to be finding his next gear recently. He’s generally pretty consistent, doesn’t often knock bars. Haven’t noticed any early take off from him in general, but in the second video (sorry that my other dog got in the way) he did seem to a little bit. Maybe he does sometimes I just haven’t noticed since Ember is so extreme 🧐

Thank you!
This is a really interesting comparison. The first jump is lovely while the second jump really takes off early. Was there anything different between the two reps?

Great thanks for the feedback videos 😊 Sorry I didn’t tick the box to notify me when there was a reply so I only just saw them 🙊
Don’t think anything was different in the second rep, it was straight after the first so maybe that was why. Azmin in front of the camera was there the first time – just on her bed or behind the camera instead (not so good at staying on her bed 🤦♀️).
We have moved a jump on a piece of carpet in to the garage and do the jump offering most nights before dinner. Last night we also did some just from a sit in front of the jump and put the bar up one height – https://youtu.be/tpkuxz_d2ng
I also found a good concrete wall at the skate park that I have been jumping the dogs up to when we take the kids there – not sure if it is too high if we should do lower or is this ok? Sorry video isn’t that good as I had it on portrait so it cut it off when I made it in to a video for YouTube – https://youtu.be/JJwFNW81rdQ
Am I on the right track with those, plus the jump offerings?
I will work through the Determining Your Baseline Grid this week 😊
Thanks!
I love what you are doing!

Hi Leslie
First I have Ember, my 7 year old with the early take off that we spoke about on my post in the FB group… I took 3 videos to make sure it showed her normal jumping style, however as you can see in the pictures in my FB post, she can take off much earlier, especially in the ring in high arousal and on straight lines with speed…
https://youtu.be/rtl-mQZEmfo
Thanks! ☺️
Forgot to mention she’s not a major bar knocker, just a time waster floating through the air 🤦♀️
She definitely has a bit of Superman jumping going on but this isn’t very efficient. The goal is to help her jump more efficiently and keep the bars up. https://link.getonform.com/view?id=fc94jVbbprqJTQHBgnnQ
https://youtu.be/Z2vClpITCU8 Reggie jumping AKC jump height 20inches I think he leaves to early? he isn’t thinking about jumping just the toy?
Slightly early take off, but not extreme. https://youtu.be/q11GqBx6kfM
Thanks! Very clear presentation. We will have the opportunity to evaluate the jump over the double jump?
Yes! We can definitely work on spreads, broad jump, wall, and tire.
Loved the presentation today can’t wait to get started…… so glad the weather in the northeast is finally changing and will allow us to work outside more comfortably!
Thank you!
I’m excited to get started as well.
