Verbal Discriminations During Sequencing |
Trying to decide how important it is for my team to have a “left/right” verbal with my puppy. I’ve used cues to mean “turn away from me” and “turn towards me” over jumps (and a separate cue for “turn away from me” or “come towards me” on the flat) with my previous dogs (who have run more NADAC style courses in general). I’m trying to branch out with my handling – but left/right will take a lot of work on my part (especially mentally managing it on course). So trying to decide if I want to do it or not.
Hey Jen!
Super interesting question and one we discuss in this podcast:
https://baddogagility.com/episode-327-how-many-verbal-cues-do-you-need/
I think the two main questions that will lead you to your answer are 1) what are your goals, what level of competitions do you favor, international aspirations? 2) are you finding that you can not get around YOUR courses without them?
