How important is it to have a verbal wrap cue for jumps? I haven’t taught this yet but I”m seeing a lot of exercises that include it. I currently have 3 jump commands (one to take jump in extension straight ahead; one to take jump turning away from me, and one to take jump turning towards me). Eventually I will have a backside jump cue also.
It really really depends on your goals and your speed relative to your dog. For example, decel is a fantastic tool for creating good turns. But it requires you to mostly be ahead of your dog.
These foundation courses are geared toward the foundation one might need to compete at the highest levels. If you have experience in the sport and you don’t find that you are particularly hurt by NOT having these additional cues, then it’s ok to not worry about them.
