The first time I did this with my 12 week old sheltie, she turned around and snarfed at the person holding her. She still does this sometimes and has started doing it when the teeter reset. A teeter eater you might say.
You can try adjusting the hold, sometimes we put a hand just in front of the rear legs and a second hand holding the collar in front to “orient” the dog the right way. You can also have the holder give one treat every time to try and keep the dog at ease about the process.
