Regarding the sequence from 6 to 8: Do you recall if any dogs at the 2019 championship that did the rear cross between 6 and 7 skip 8 and, instead, shoot the gap between 7 and 8 to go directly to 9 (the tunnel)? At my skill level, I’m wondering if the angle of the handler path on the rear cross from 6 to 7 might pull a dog–a small dog in particular–into that gap.
Great question! I don’t recall, but to make sure that doesn’t happen, as I rear cross, I would stop briefly by the left wing of #6 and this deceleration should help the dog continue to turn more tightly toward the triple and commit to it.
