I have trained Rory with the tunnel, but I didn’t do impulse control. adding that today, love it!
I have learned so much from the structure courses. I am really going to reinforce the impulse control on my youngest pup and rework with my 2yo dogs on the verbal and timing. Thank you.
Glad you are enjoying it. I think the impulse control aspect of the tunnel is completely undervalued and undertrained. When people think “train a tunnel”, they think so much about getting the dog to take it and forgot that it is also one of the most common off courses we see and need to have the control too.
Great advice on considering impulse control from the start. Love the demos! We have also started baby pups and reluctant dogs with someone else restraining the dog while handler calls them thru. I even advised a friend with a very nervous dog to wedge her short pop-up tunnel in the kitchen doorway. It wasn’t long before the dog was flying thru!
Love that hallway idea! lol
