Towards the end of the video, you have added a jump bar. Would you estimate at elbow height? And how old is your golden pup? I am thinking that i need to add a bar or something to let my pup begin to be AWARE that there is something there. He is a 6mo BC, so i will not be jumping for a while yet. I have been reading Linda Mecklenbergs Mastering Jumping Skills and she talks about use of a more solid type object so it doesn’t just roll under foot.
Thoughts on this? At what age do you start adding actual jumping?

Dogs are jumping from the day you bring them home as puppies, but as a rule of thumb, we don’t jump our dogs at full height until their growth plates are closed which is anywhere from 9-18 months depending on the breed.
You can cut a large diameter PVC pipe in half to create two “speed bumps” which the dog can step over instead of a bar that is displaced and can roll underfoot. I’m guessing the golden in this video is between 9-15 months of age. Elbow height for this breed is fine, you can see it’s no different from the hopping up she does in play with other dogs or to greet us.
