Okay. Need a little weave pole problem solving. I want to nip skipping the last couple of poles in the bud. We just went to 12 poles about 4 weeks ago. All good until the last couple of weave sessions this week. My 16 month old BC started taking 3 tries to get all the poles. And this is with lots of support and low distraction. Think I should introduce guides now? She learned weaving with the 2×2 method.

Does the height on the poles where you place the weave pole guides vary based on the height of the dog? Do you have a general guideline of how high to place the guides?

    • Jennifer Crank says:

I feel like the general rule of thumb is shoulder height, but I think it depends on if your dog is inclined to jump them or go under them. You can raise and lower as needed.

I also know for big dogs (since you have weims) it is pretty common to have two sets on – maybe ankle height and shoulder height – and then you can fade.
