Zinnie’s history is that she was not so interested in agility for quite a while, until I figured out what made it fun for her. I used a tunnel for her because it was fun, always having her run fast. Recently I was trying to teachTunnel verbal (she loves tables more than a tunnel and will go to a table if anywhere nearby) so I was standing still, and saying tunnel (and then table) to help with the verbal. So until now, she hasn’t had to notice what I was doing. Clearly! So, I think this excercise makes sense and she did well. No worries, with this training, she will quickly learn to anticipate going straight vs turning based on your motion. You can use the same verbal cue for the tunnel, but don’t do anymore “sends” over multiple obstacles whiel you remain motionless.

we did one more session at the agility barn (not shown) where she just ran through the tunnel, then looked around, seeming to wonder what obstacle to take next. I think there was too much equipment around. So we tried in my back yard (this video), she did great. I added some movement to the decel. My first training session with Righteous using acceleration and deceleration cues at a tunnel. He’s been doing this cloth tunnel (which is short) since he was 9 weeks old, so he’s very familiar with it. In general, he loves tunnels. He’s a lot of fun to train.

Looks great! For the decels, he’s a little slow to come back to you so when he exits, you can face away from him and even move away from him a little bit so he has to “chase” you to get the reward.
