So we gave it a go with pop up, did not video, just messing around to see what I got…….although I tried to instill lots of “oomph” and excitement to get her “up”, she quickly shut down, started panting and got glassy-eyed, my girls tell-tale signs of stress! I was even using chicken and her butt would not budge off the ground.
Hmmmmm, what to do, so I got out her favorite tug, got her revved up and managed it place it just out of her reach above her head to get her to “lift” to grab it…………..I tried to click and give her the toy to begin the tug. After doing this about 10 times, we were both worn out but I was able to simulate the “pop up” motion, whew!
So do you have any thoughts? I know we have worked SO diligently over the years with sitting/not jumping as a default to meeting someone…..maybe getting her to lift from a sit with me standing in front of her just went against her doggie sensibilities.
Am I over thinking this…..lol?!?!?!?
It’s hard to say without video. My guess is that she’s not sure rather not thinking she’s supposed to jump up. You could try giving her a high front paw target to help get the action like holding a peanut on its end.
