I started adding instability to his bridge. I think he’s doing well and is ready to progress. If you agree, should I raise the unstable piece or start with a taller stable piece first? Here’s our 3rd set of 20 seconds from today’s work:
https://youtu.be/Q0PLQSDALYs
This is looking great. I would add instability to the other half (rear legs in the first part, front legs in the second part). For Bridge, height isn’t going to make it more difficult the way it does for Paws Up or Paws Down.
Hi. We were a very late start to the program, then Timber got a gastrocnemius pull and was out for > 4 months. During the end of that time, I did start a fitness program with my vet. I understood you don’t do rehab stuff, so waited until we were totally released from rehab. The vet did have me do some conditioning exercise, including building up to unstable equipment. I am attaching some recent videos I sent to the vet for several of my exercises, including the bridge on the large fit bone. I am also posting videos for the tuck sit to kickback stand and fold back down to stand, but will post them in the appropriate discussion section. Thanks. https://youtu.be/rVLyCNTdtEw
This is looking pretty good. I would switch to two separate pieces of equipment, one for front, one for rear for the bridge exercise.

Hi Leslie – here is Matirx and Yowza doing the Bridge exercise, 3 sets of 30 sec. I thought they did quite well – except that I noticed that Matrix splayed his back feet a little in the last 30s, so I am wondering if that was due to fatigue. Yowza (23m) also had trouble with her back feet – so I am wondering if I should go back to using a solid platform for their back feet.

Increase space between the fitbones and I think they’ll both have it.

Hi Leslie – here is our first video of the bridge. We’ve worked this with other equipment but wanted to get Karma used to her NEW paw disc. Hope there is enough air, a couple times the hole plugger shot out when she stepped on the discs but I quickly plugged them back up………..lmk what you think.

She looks great! I do think she’s ready for more air.

I did this for the first time today with Ripley. I’m curious if you think she’s ready to have instability equipment to target front and rear at the same time or if I should just stick to this set up for awhile yet.
Front paws:

Rear paws:

The rear targeting looks a little challenging but she gets it on the last rep. Focus on that set up for a week then try both.

TY Leslie. Jake went in to visit our sports vet, (Dr. Jenn who is also doing this program), a few weeks ago & she commented that she could really feel a difference in Jake. 🙂
So awesome!
Leslie, I was just rewatching the analysis on this video. For paw position on the fitbone & disc, should I be trying to get them more in the center of the pieces of equipment? I was placing his paws about midway between the center of the disc & the edge. Then on the fitbone the paws should be closer to the logo in the middle of the bone?
Yes, for inflatables the middle of the equipment is the most ideal. So, I usual say aim for standing with a paw on either side of the logo.
Our bridge.

This is looking awesome!

Bridge a little harder. I tried with the large fit bone and the sides just squished down.

Nice job!

Ok, I’ll play around with it and see if we can find something better. I tried the giant fit bone and it just squished down on the sides. Maybe I need more air in it? I kind of regret buying that!
Ya, the giant fit ones have really weak sidewalls. It’s the problem with just making things bigger.
So I do have 2 fitbones…..I never seem to be able to get the right amount of air in them…….remind me are the easier with more air or less air, and then gradually increase/decrease that amount???
Easier with less air – flat surface. Adding more air creates a rounded surface which adds movement and makes it more difficult.
Not understanding assignment #11????? Tried reading it several times and it is not making sense????
Sandy, I might be wrong, but I am reading #11 as being on the equipment, holding good posture, for 30 sec and working up to to 3 sets. Then a 30 sec “ rest “ off the equipment inbetween sets, but also maintaining good posture during that “ rest “ time. Will be interested to see what Coach Leslie says.
Yes, I think I missed some punctuation. I was trying to say 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. Do that a total of 3 times. It is important to maintain good posture on and off. But your ‘off’ can also be a sit or down in good posture if needed.
Ok, got it now…. wasn’t trying to be critical I just wasn’t making sense of those sentences! Thanks for clarifying!
LOL
I know! When I reread it, I was like this makes no sense!
