Jake’s attempt. It’s not very good at the start but I think he gets better at the end. https://youtu.be/n7qQfT6pP4g
Definitely gets better as you go.

T Y Leslie. We will keep working on this one!
You’re welcome!
Hi Leslie, happy New Year! A little fitness practice before Karma get’s spayed tomorrow!!!! Here is our first attempt at Step Downs, I think Karma was understanding the single paw targeting concept in this exercise………..let us know what you think!

This is looking really good.

Trying Step downs. Love his enthusiasm! He wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to start with so he tried everythingehttps://youtu.be/v6vKplCkQ4U
Nice start!

I’ll try to be better organised with my treats for this one, as well as following your advice. Because the treats are so tiny I seem to have dropped bits and he was searching for those as well as wondering what I was trying to get him to do. I also need to be clearer with my hand signals. We will keep working this one.
I do the same!
I try to remember: clarity rules. The clearer I can be about what I want the better the dog understands. Sometimes that means I have to practice my moves without the dog first.
Our step downs.

Thanks!
Beautiful!

Do you have a cue that you are using for the step off the platform?
No, it’s really just a lure. If they don’t understand the lure, I will incorporate my individual paw target behavior.
Hi Leslie,
Would stepping off to the side be a good exercise too, or is this something we should stay away from?
Yes, you can step to the side. Most likely it is targeting the same muscles as Step Downs, but it’s always good to mix it up.
