I’m not sure what happened but I sent these earlier. I must not have clicked submit. Here are my Exercise 6 videos. They are actually shown backwards from last to first attempts. Not sure how I did that either! (Holiday Brain, I guess) I know I am still over supporting the jumps and am slower than I need to be. I need to trust my dog and my training. I’m working on it!! 🙂

CharLee and I had a little bit of trouble with these

He is used to a reverse spin type of handling when he is running full out on course. He is not used to this at the start line. This was good practice. We started out just doing a few starts with me rewarding right after he wrapped jump #1

He also wanted to take jump #4 as a Rear Cross to the right and not a wrap to the left. So I practiced that as well before rerunning it.

We had some video issues with our first runs and I had to ask him to rerun these. I captured his first attempts but the video switched to slow motion for some reason.

This will be a good exercise for CharLee and me to revisit

The video you sent in looked quite nice. I would not have known you had any of those mistakes had you not mentioned it. If ever there is a time where you’re not sure why the mistake occurred, feel free to leave in the mistakes as there might be some thing I can pick up on and get feedback.

Everything looks pretty nice but I would like you to trust your sins more and see if you can’t work to get them a bit more motivated for some better speed and drive.

Here’s Truman and my work on these exercises. It was fun practicing with the short tunnel. Good luck at the try outs!

Here’s my stab at all of them. I know that I was pretty hesitant on some, Mainly because temperatures were like 28 and was trying to rush thru them and not forget what I was doing before we both froze LOL

I really enjoyed this sequence one reason is because I rarely use a RC on flat. While working the boys, I felt like only one time that my legs were in danger. I had a dog dislocate my ankle while herding and I Don’t what that to happen again! It took 6 months to heal. As I edited my videos I noticed several things. First was that I was not showing enough decl before J4 so we had wide turns. One thing that really worried me is my dig dig & check check for tight turns are getting extremely watered down. I don’t like that. So should I be using left & right instead of the tight turn verbals? Another thing I noticed is that on exercise 3, most of my front crosses after J6 were really late.
I guess it is a good thing that I am see the errors because then I know what I need to

    Thanks again for the feedback!

Yes, I agree that is it a great thing that you are able to watch your videos back and identify areas of improvement. This is a huge step as you will now be able to identify weaknesses and fix them more quickly, ultimately being able to identify them live without needing to see the video back.

I think I answered most of your questions, especially regarding your “dig dig” and “check check” but LMK if now.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I could kick myself for NOT figuring out why the boys were going wide on jump 4. I know better and should have seen it while training! Also, I definitely need to go back to the basics and work my tight turns. I really got the picture when you said if the boys ran through a DW, you would stop and work the desired behavior. Got it so from now on if I don’t get the desired behavior I’ll go back and reinforce exactly what my expectations are.
Thanks so so much. I’m off to train.
