Thanks for your comments. I did try handling the weave poles with dog on right. The double was a little push out from the poles with dog on right as I set the course up and Tru can now out run me even in the weave poles so when he was on my right he missed the double. It was easier on the whole for me to do dog on left in the poles with an extension rear for the double.
Love to hear that you tried it! Y’all have a brilliant rapport and fantastic teamwork. Like true TEAM work.
After reviewing your handling suggestions for the small space, I decided none of them would work for me in the context of the entire course. I understand that I am getting a somewhat wider turn from 6-7 by handling the way I did but at the moment I just can’t get in front of Tru the way your suggestions require if I also have to handle the initial part of the course going from the front of the course to the back and the back to the front again! For the challenge I thought Tru did a nice job with both the curl and the slice but the slice was clearly smoother. However, if there was something after the tunnel that required a right turn I would likely choose the curl over the slice because it leaves me a couple of steps closer to where I need to go.

Here’s Indy’s attempt. We had an oops on Challenge 1 & I thought I could do better handling on challenge 2 so redid it.

Interesting on the side by side. Zest comes out of wraps faster so I’m not surprised at what you found with him. And yes, Blast definitely has a harder time getting speed after wraps or coming back to a fast speed whenever he’s had to slow down. I am always looking for advice to get him to come off the start line with more speed as well. Are there any lessons in our academy to address both of these, start line and wraps?
From the tactical side, with a dog like that, getting out ahead isn’t always the best option.

This is what I mean by a tactical change to the way you approach the course.
On the training side, I think the drive building section of the foundation course would be a good refresher. It’s basically about building independence and “speed in all things”. It is a little more difficult to change the dog’s natural response, but I think these exercises can’t hurt and could help tap into his drive: https://baddogagilityacademy.com/course/shape-up-pup/module-6/opposition-reflex-2/
Roxie all 4 exercises and both challenges. You may want to turn down the volume; whiny baby dog who wants to play was crated right behind my phone. 😂 Also, Roxie has ETO so some places timing is off relative to her take-off. Thank you for all the wonderful exercises – we are getting close to NAC!

Hi Sarah – I am also getting the “not loaded to the cloud” message when using the link (I’ve been trying for an hour)
So sorry! It’s there now. I just shut my iPad too fast when I’m done for the morning lol
