I have trouble getting the outline of the strip to turn yellow when I am trying to trim. Am I pressing too hard, or not enough? Sometimes it seems to work, but most of the time I struggle with it.

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Hmm – I just tried, and most of the time it worked, but sometimes it’s touchy. You could try using a stylus. I did seem to have more trouble when I tried to click and drag in one quick motion, so maybe if you rest your finger on the dragger for just a moment and then pull.

If you continue to have trouble, I would just edit in iMovie. That is what I normally use, I only use this method when I simply want to trim a video. For example, I set it up to record a session, forgot about it, and have 2 mins of training and 15 mins of an empty field!

      • Chris says:

My next problem is that when I can get a video into edit mode, with the yellow handles on each end, trim it as desired, and then save it as a new clip, after the saving is finished and I tap the back arrow at the upper left of the screen to go back to my videos I will see either the original version or the edited (shorter) clip, but not both. If the new video is displayed and I press it, among the options available are to revert to the original, so it is still on my phone. If the one I see is the original, I can go in and edit it again. What am I doing wrong?

        • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

So you should get an option to save the video (which overrides the original) or save as NEW video (which creates a second clip).

If we do a zoom call, we can try it with a screen share and I can see if it’s working as expected or doing something different.

That is such a well explained video, I’ve done very little with the edit function. I’ll have more confidence trying it now. Sooo well explained, love the arrows and the accompanying instructions. Thank you 💕

  • Gerry Recksiedler says:

    Very useful. Well done.

  • jsilva5@comcast.net says:

Ah… finally thanks to you I’m understanding this!

  • joanmskinner@gmail.com says:

This is great! I had figured out how to trim the video but hadn’t realized that I could play the video to check on it before hitting Done! Thanks! (And I usually save as New Clip otherwise I have way too many videos hanging around!)

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

Glad you learned something new! I always encourage people to go through this course just in case there are little speed/efficiency tips that they don’t know.

  • lahnit@icloud.com says:

I can’t find camera roll and when I hit edit is says downloading but does. Ot and says cannot download help

    • Sarah Fernandezlopez says:

It appears that “camera roll” has been replaced by “Recents”. Does that help?

But otherwise you are on an iOS devise and you’re in the “Photos” app?

  • luvmypet@bellsouth.net says:

I have an Android phone. Is there any program you can recommend that is comparable?

  • Stan says:

All the modules on Technology were extremely useful. I was never quite sure how people were video taping practice sections. And I had not fully appreciated the enormous capability of the video camera on my smartphone.
